WildLand Fire Awareness Trail Half Marathon and 5K Race

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is hosting a half marathon and 5K-race event in Red Rock Canyon. This event is open to the public and highlights some of the best trails in the majestic mountains in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a wild adventure race as you walk, run, hike and trekk through rolling trail. Watch out for deer (yes, we saw them!), sagebrush, boulders big as mountains and knotty pine trees. This will be a fun-filled exciting discovery for you and your friends as the BLM brings awareness to wild land fire areas and helps us to remember the awesome fire fighters that help protect these vast beautiful wilderness lands.

Packet Pickup is Saturday, May 2, from 3pm-6pm at the lower parking lot of Red Rock Canyon Visitors Center ( just tell the fee booth personnel that you are picking up for the race so you don’t have to pay to enter!) You can pick up your packet race morning BUT we encourage you to get your bib Saturday as that is your entry on Sunday. Parking on Race Day; there are limited parking spots at the Red Rock Visitors Center and there will be a shuttle service from Calico Basin parking lot to the Red Rock Canyon Visitors Center on race morning.

Details to come! This event will close at 300 total runner/walkers. Participants receive a goodie bag, t-shirt and medal. We encourage you to donate to the families of the Wildland Firefighters who have lost their lives.
The half marathon race begins at the Visitors Center and continues through the center of majestic Red Rock Canyon on scenic, single-track trails. This is a dynamic and beautiful course! The trail travels clockwise towards White Rock Loop. Then, it follows the Grand Circle loop meandering back towards the start/finish line area for food and festivities (and lots of Fireman providing refreshments!) There is plenty of time to walk, run, trekk and hike to the finish line!
The 5K trail is a scenic out and back following the half marathon course. It is beautiful nature setting, filled with panoramic views of the red rocks for those who want to experience the wonders of Red Rock canyon for a shorter distance.
Aid Station Locations
- Start/Finish Line
- 1.5 mile turnaround for 5K
- 4 miles at road crossing
- 6.5 miles at White Rock Loop parking area (restroom)

Aid stations will have plenty of water and Gatorade. Half Marathoners should carry a hand held water bottle or have a hydration pack. The temps will be warm!
Wildland Firefighter Foundation
Since this is a free event, we are asking that people donate to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation. The WFF’s main focus is to help families of firefighters killed in the line of duty and to assist injured firefighters and their families. We honor and acknowledge past, present, and future members of the wildland firefighting community.
