Biography

At 48 years old Molly entered her first marathon. Four weeks into training she injured her foot and was told that she was too old to be running. That incident prompted her to challenge herself. As a novice runner, she entered the Rio Del Lago 100 mile endurance race, finishing the race in 29 hours and 27 minutes. She discovered her love of endurance running and her adventures began.

In the past three years, Molly has run over 20 ultramarathons. In April 2009, she completed the extreme running event, Marathon Des Sables, a 150 mile stage race, running across the Sahara Desert in North Africa. All participants, in this internationally renowned race, must carry all supplies on their back and be totally self sufficient during the race. Three months later, in July 2009, Molly ran what is widely considered the toughest footrace on the planet, the Badwater Ultramarathon. Badwater is a nonstop run from Death Valley to the portal of Mt. Whitney with temperatures in the 120 degree range and covering 13,000 feet of elevation. She was one of only 90 select ultrarunners from around the world invited to participate. Her finish time garnered her the prized “Badwater Buckle”, awarded to the few runners who finish in less than 48 hours.

Molly’s adventures in ultrarunning have been an encouragement to her community, her friends and family and to Boys Town Nevada. Molly raises support and awareness for Boys Town through her ultrarunning efforts and has brought needed recognition and additional resources to what she considers “a very special place that does so much good for so many wonderful kids”.
